Creating a wallet
Step 1 - Counterwallet.io
Visit Counterwallet.io in a modern browser. Google Chrome is recommended. If the service is up, you will see a green “System currently appears UP” notice.
If you already have created a wallet, you may skip to Step 11. Otherwise, click on the right box "Official Counterparty Counterwallet Server"
Step 2 - Create account
Create a wallet by clicking on "Create New Wallet".
Step 3 - Passphrase
This step is very important. The system generates you an individual passphrase which acts as a password. Write down the generated passphrase and keep it somewhere safe. It will only be shown once - if you loose this password, your funds may be permanently lost. If you have done so, please check the box and click on "Continue".
Step 3.1 - Quick Access URL (optional)
There is a way to avoid entering the passphrase each time you want to signin. Simply create a Quick Access URL !
This is not recommended. Anyone who has this URL may be able to spend or send funds from your wallet.
Step 4 - Accepting the license agreement
Great! You have successfully created your wallet! After clicking on "Create Wallet" the popup-windows close themselves and you can sign in in your wallet.
Read and accept the terms of the licence agreement by clicking on the green "Accept Terms" button.
Step 5 - Counterwallet Dashboard
This is your wallet dashboard. You will see one generated wallet address right next to the text "My Address #1". Below you have a Bitcoin (BTC) and a Counterparty (XCP) tile which shows the wallet balance.
NVST - Trading Guides
Step 1 - Counterwallet Dashboard
Note: Bitocoin as a trading currency is at the current stage of the counterparty wallet not well supported. Trades on the Counterparty DEX should be made with XCP (e.g. XCP/NVST), unless you know what you are doing with the counterpaty protocol and can manually create the necessary raw signed counterparty transaction. Liquidity using Bitcoin is practically non-existent.
On the left side there is a menu which helps you navigate to certain interfaces. To navigate to the exchange interface, click on "Exchanges" > "Markets".
Try finding "NVST/XCP" in the left container with the title "Top Pairs" or you can simply search for "NVST" in the container next to it. By selecting the trading pair the interface changes its layout below.
Step 2 - Understanding the interface
Scroll down to see the current market bids and asks.
To place a buy order, you need Counterparty (XCP) and a small amount of Bitcoin (BTC) in the wallet you created and own.
To place a sell order, you need NVST and a small amount of Bitcoin - no need for Counterparty.
All Counterparty transactions are Bitcoin transactions and therefore require enough bitcoin to pay the fees at the current market fee level. There is also an expiration date for the orders set. The default expiration for orders on the Counterwallet exchange interface is 1,000 bitcoin blocks, or 1,667 hours, or 6.9 days.
Step 3 - Buying and selling NVST
Since there are no funds in this wallet, we will just talk this one through.
In this example, someone else has already placed an order to sell a quantity of 1,000 NVST for 0.05 XCP each, at a total of 50 XCP.
The first step is to select the existing sell-order from the container below. After the selection the buy-form will automatically be filed in.
The next step is to select the address you want to use for buying NVST. There must be funds in the wallet, or else the input fields may be disabled. You can change the amount of XCP manually or if you would like to buy NVST with all of your existing XCP, simply click on orange-marked value above.
The bitcoin fee can be left at default or can be changed manually. The default is set to 1 block - about 10 minutes to enter into the order book and accept the sell-order.
Click on "Buy (XCP -> NVST)" and then on "Confirm order" to confirm the transaction. You may be notified when it was successful.
